Shine Your Light Reiki Studio Featured in Southern California Homes

Shine Your Light Reiki studio was recently featured on Southern California Homes, one of the top sites for Santa Barbara, CA Real Estate. Check out the article below and click here for more info on SoCal Homes: Finding Spiritual Healing At Shine Your Light Studio.

Jewels Bertrand, owner of the Shine Your Light Studio in Santa Monica CA, learned about spiritual healing the hard way, by hitting rock bottom in her own life. A perfect storm of circumstances: the pressure and stress from a job as an advertising exec in New York City, her father’s death due to ALS and the crash of 2009, all played a part. Regular medications prescribed for stress left her feeling even more numb.

She finally turned to yoga, reiki and meditation in an effort to heal herself.

“That’s when I took matters into my own hands and learned about holistic methods like yoga, meditation and reiki,” she said. “So it was through the night of the storm that I found a healing light. Which is why I call my studio, Shine Your Light.”

The studio, located in Santa Monica CA, is designed to share the tools that helped Bertrand to live stress free.

Gypsy Jewels Bertrand Soul Journey Kundalini Healing and Meditation Retreat Koh Phangan Thailand

Shine Your Light Julie Jewels Bertrand said that learning ancient yogic techniques like mantras and mudras were a big part of her own spiritual healing.

The spiritual tool box includes meditation, breath work, yoga and body work, essential oils and chakra balancing. She has used her blog, yoga retreats and workshops around the world, TV and radio shows and private health coaching through Skype and one on one sessions, to share her knowledge, which has both spiritual and practical tools.

This knowledge is the product of intense training and travels.

“I first learned Reiki in Nepal, the birth place of the Buddha,” Bertrand said. “Reiki was for me, the light that saved me. I absorb everything reiki. I have lived in temples across Thailand, India and Nepal, and Reiki and meditation for me is something I live and breath.”

Clients visiting the studio feel like they have stepped into a Buddhist zen den filled with artifacts from Nepal, Bertrand says. She combines kundalini with reiki and meditation techniques to help each person find the roadblocks, projections and archetype on to the path to happiness and vitality. Newcomers can begin with the free Guided Chakra Balance Meditation, and then continue to personal sessions with Bertrand.

From Corporate America to Wanderlust | My Spiritual Pilgrimage

Wanderlust (n) A strong, irresistible desire to travel unexplored lands and the inner soul.

Today, as I write this blog, I am about to leave my comfortable home and life in sunny Marina Del Rey | Venice Beach, California. Some ask me, “Why are you leaving this? You have a wonderful life here in Los Angeles” And I do. I live in a lovely home with water views, I teach yoga, have a reiki / chakra balance studio in Santa Monica, a slew of friends. Life is great! Yet I can’t shake this urge to spread my wings and fly, seek, experience and explore.

As early as I can remember, I had powerful desire to travel. My favorite books as a child were those about colorful, brave characters who nomadically roamed through exotic lands.

At six years, old I took my first out of the country trip for an entire summer to visit my mother’s side of the family in Athens, Greece. Immediately, I eased my way into this new culture. I enjoyed speaking the different language, eating new foods and soaking up the vibrant colors and smells of this exotic land.

Maybe it was that trip. Maybe it was having a mother who was from another country. I’m not sure, but I wanted more of this. I was not able travel out of the country again until I turned 19. And from that point on, I have been fortunate enough to travel every year.

As I observed the lifestyles of other cultures, I became disconnected with the American lifestyle and the American Dream. Work, work, work. Make money. Consume, consume, consume. More work. Retire. The cultures I enjoyed the most were the ones that focused much less on this and more on family, nature, and the simple pleasures of life. American Dream… It was a dream that was spoon fed to me, but something I just couldn’t swallow. I even tried to embrace this “normal” lifestyle. I got married, bought a home, had the big paying corporate gig with the fancy titles, I had a 15th floor, corner office at CBS Radio overlooking the vibrant streets of midtown Manhattan in New York City. Yet I found that none of this fulfilled me. I was filling my pocket-book, but depleting my soul. I was stressed out, unhealthy and exhausted.

As I circle back to my query, why? Why do I have this burning desire to roam and explore? I realize, that the open road makes me feel alive, free and vibrant. I gave the American Dream more than a good try. I worked for two decades in Corporate America. Today, I have reinvented myself and found a way to support my dream, my life and my pocketbook living out my destiny.

I’m heading off on a one-way ticket to Thailand and the beautiful countries of South East Asia. I have no time line. Maybe a year, maybe more, maybe less. I will be teaching yoga, meditation and holistic living both abroad and on-line. I’m on my spiritual journey

I’d love to share my experiences with you and perhaps even see you on the other side of the world at one of my holistic retreats. So if you haven’t already, sign up for the newsletter. I’ll also continue to record and post my favorite meditations and holistic tips designed to help align you in the highest vibration so you can live out your happiest, authentic life.

Shine Your Light,

Jewels

HONORED TO SERVE AND HEAL

Recently, one of my favorite Hay House Radio authors and radio host, Cynthia Occelli wrote an entire article about my healing services in her blog.

The feature brought me to tears. Tears of joy and tears of memories. I first came across Cynthia Occelli first via her inspiring blog and Hay House radio show just over a year ago. Her message rose up bright and shiny from the congested communiqué of the internet and airwaves. Inspiring and up-lifting. Real and authentic. She always seemed to say what I needed to hear. Listening to her voice on the radio was like listening to a respected friend.

And then one day her Facebook post struck another familiar note with me. But one that sang a sad tune in my heart. Cynthia’s mother had fallen ill. I could hear the tears in her brave words. Now let me first start by saying, this women does not need any sympathy. She has the spirit of a warrior-ess. She is the kind of woman who will take on any battle, single-handedly. I know this from her back story which she openly speaks about in her book, “Resurrecting Venus” as well as on her show and blog. Yet my heart ached for my cyber sister her and her mother.

You see, I too have walked in those shoes. Seven years ago, my father ascended into the celestial realms after a 13 year battle from ALS. My family and I valiantly carried our swords of love and light to the field during my father’s dance with this disease. My dear mother, barely 4 feet 8 inches tall immediately took on the role as sergeant in command. With the essence of Florence Nightingale meets Joan of Arc, she helped to keep my father alive and spirited for 13 years until he made his transition.

During that time, we never asked for help. Standing tall and proud, we tried to take on the battle alone. But as they say, “it takes a village”. And thankfully, were blessed with the kindness and generosity of several earth angels who each helped my family with their gifts of kindness.

So when I learned about Cynthia’s mother, I heard the calling to serve. It was now my turn to offer my time, my kindness. And I am so honored that she accepted. Cynthia’s mother reminds me of my father. Strength, grace, elegance come to the forefront of my mind. Even in the dark time of uncertainty, there is a glow about her. Looking at her is like looking at an angel of light. May we all hold a candle for Cynthia and her mother.
