Sat nam,

Today I’m really excited to share with you a set of 15 Powerful Kundalini mantras and songs that I often use in my Kundalini Yoga classes.  These mantras are incredibly powerful and up-lifting. After every class, the students always ask me how to find these mantras. So today I will share some of my favorites with you.

You can use these Kundalini Mantras anytime and anywhere. You do not have to be in a yoga class. I gave a brief description after each one to highlight the benefit of the mantra so you can use the right ones as needed. I also find it helpful to play the mantras while sleeping. This helps to re-pattern the mind by replacing negative hypnotic thoughts that play though the background of the mind and reprograms the thought patterns with positive, affirming thoughts. You may find yourself waking up in the mornings in a state of greater peace and happiness.

The truth is, as we face the day, it’s super easy to get knocked out of balance. It happens to me too! And when it happens, it doesn’t feel good.

There are lots of reasons why we feel bad, anxious or scared. Work pressures, relationships, even watching TV or getting cut off by another car on the road. There is so much chaos outside and those messages are sent into your energetic frequency. Thankfully, we have lots of tools that can help us reconnect us back into that happy, balanced state of mind. And these Kundalini  mantras are on set of those tools to keep in your spiritual toolbox.

So take a look below and when you get knocked out of your happy place, remember there is a way through every block. And that message comes straight from the Kundalini 2nd sutra of codes to live by.

Namaste,

Greetings from my magical fairy earth hut in the forests of Pai Thailand. I’ve been relaxing and meditating out here for a little over a week. Prior to that I was studying Eastern healing techniques and releasing karma at Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai.

I’ve been studying and teaching yoga for over a decade and learned much about Hindu and Sikh philosophies. And now, since staying at the temple, I’m learning about Buddhism. Since many of my friends asked me about my experience, I made a quick video on my YouTube channel sharing the teachings about Karma given to me by the temple. I hear the word Karma used a lot. But what does it really mean? Now this discussion can go on for a long time and we can dive in deep into the meaning of karma. But here’s a little 101 on the basic meaning.

I’ll be sharing spiritual tools and tips here on Shine Your Light as I journey across the globe to the core of the soul.  Sign up if you want to be inspired. And share this post with someone who you feel might resonate with it.

Now let’s hear from you. Many of you are on the same journey and can offer insite. Tell us how you would describe karma in the comments below. As always, be kind and let the light shine.

If you would like to journey with me on a magical, tropical island in Thailand, I’ll be hosting my next Sacred Healing and Meditation Retreat on January 29, 2018. All the details can be found at http://jewelsbertrand.com/retreat/

Have a blessed day.

Kundalini Full Moon Meditation

Sa Re Sa Sa

Happy Full Moon!

Today I share with you an ancient meditation that yogis and sages have done for thousands of years on the day and eve of the Full Moon. Meditating at the time of a full moon is very powerful. You can use this time to plant seeds of intention and to let go of that which is not serving you.  And on the night of the new moon you can revisit this garden of intention tend to it as you manifest your garden of dreams into reality. As you work through this cycle, it will help you to clear blockages and utilize the cosmic energies to bring about awakening and expansion.

I recorded this video on an enchanting beach in Thailand as the light of moon shined through the palm trees and cast its glow against the waters and rocks. It was a warm day in Thailand, but the night air brought in a cool breeze. I had spent most of the day quietly alone and recorded the meditation to share what it can do for you.

(Recorded in Tonsai, Thailand)

Under the full moon, your energy is amplified and pathways are open so that you are able look within. You become centered and able to release low vibrations that are causing inner conflicts. These conflicts can arise as stress, fear, sadness, indecision, dis-ease or blockages in your natural state of flow

With the moon’s alignment to the earth, you can harness the energy to become the authority. To transcend the mind and unite to the Divinity within. It allows you to release, cleanse and completes cycles, patterns and recurring situations. It’s a time where you can reset your course.

The meditation I show you in this video is called the Antar Naad.  It is a Kundalini Yoga meditation that is specifically done under the Full Moon. When the Kundalini Master, Yogi Bhajan brought this meditation to the west from India, he said that by doing it, it will give you the capacity conquer the wisdom of your past, present, and future. It brings you on a pathway to peace and prosperity even if you are far off that course.

It uses a mantra (chant) and mudra (hand movement) that effectively cuts through negativity from within oneself and awakens us to our Infinite Creative energy. The meditation is so powerful, that  burns away obstacles to that block us from achieving our higher consciousness. It’s acts as a keycode to activating the flow of the Kundalini energy that opens the gateway to your highest awareness. It balances your chakras, strengthens the aura and empowers your authority to make decisions. It allows you to release low vibrations that may be clinging to you.

I have had the opportunity to teach it countless times and it’s been a favorite and frequent request at many of my classes. Try it out and tell us what you think in the comments. Feel free to share it with those who you feel could use it. Together we can utilize these tools to uplift each and everyone of us.

Peace and blessings and may you Shine Your Light, big and bright.

Greetings from Bangkok,

As I write this blog, I sit curbside and barefoot on the vibrant Koh San Road, Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” coming through my earphones mixing in with the chaotic sounds of tuk tuks beeping their horns and weaving through the crowd of back packers, food trucks and wandering dogs. In the back of my mind I am brought to the opening scene of “The Beach” where Leonardo DiCaprio zig zagged in and out of the dark watering holes of this very street. It’s midnight and I’ve just arrived after spending a sleepless night with friends back home in Venice Beach, California. Tonight is a special night for me, as it marks the very beginning of my Gypsy Wanderlust Soul Journey. A one way ticket with no time frame and no destination other than following my path as it lies brightly illuminated before me.

I made the journey from Los Angeles to this backpacker section of the city barefoot. Yep, to and through LAX, on to Tokyo right to Koh San Road, Bangkok, barefoot. Pretty ironic since just less than 5 years ago you wouldn’t see me in anything but high-heeled Prada or some other over priced designer shoes. Funny how life can literally spin on its heels and shift your world. So why though, why am I barefoot in Bangkok? It’s an interesting story, and one you may even relate to.

A few months ago before I made the decision to finally embark upon this dream of mine, I was on a two-week vacation here in Thailand. I was staying in a quiet, little beachside town in the northern part of Koh Phangan. The second I arrived I slipped right into island mode with the locals and ex pat community. I met the best group of angel travelers in that peaceful enclave. These are the very people who inspired me to finally do this. Let go of my home town comforts, shoes and all, and set sail into the unknown. To travel from where I am, to who I am and follow the current. Even if just for a little while.

Our lives can become so structured and sometimes it’s difficult to breathe into ourselves. We all have responsibilities. Rent, work, school, kids… life. I was so caught up in that cycle a few years ago. My life was insanely intense. I felt like a hamster on a wheel. I worked hard, I played hard, I even practiced my yoga hard. I was putting so much energy to a system I didn’t even vibrate with. I felt like I was losing sight of me. I was more concerned about who I was wearing, rather than who I was.

When I moved from New York City to Los Angeles is when I first said goodbye to the system and the matrix. I jumped off the hamster wheel and let go. I gave notice to my job, let go of my six figure salary, sold most of my stuff and moved to Los Angeles with nothing more than two suitcases, 4 boxes and large mortgage I had to somehow figure out how to pay. It was a bold move but I went forward, fearless with a heart full of faith.

And that’s what brings me here today. Since that day, I’ve been playing with a new set of rules. More like, no rules. I can remember days sitting in my office in Manhattan dreaming of doing just this. And as a testament to the commitment to walking my path, I made a deal with one of my fellow Wanderlust travel friends, that the day I finally do it, I go full on, Barefoot to Bangkok! So I paired down my possessions once again. This time to eight boxes. There is something so cathartic about doing that. I even sold a pair of $750 Louie Vuitton high heels for $88! I won’t be needing them here in Thailand.

The point is, I’m living my dream. It may not be your dream. But you have a dream too. And I invite you to not let your dreams fade into the distance. Because the days turn into months and the months turn into years; and you find yourself in the same place with your dreams slipping away. It took me a decade to do this, but I’m doing it. My prayer to you is that you reach out, go for it with faith and courage. Let go of fear and doubt. Because fear and doubt are fate killers. When you slip into fear mode you get out of synch with the universal rhythms. Stay in synch and allow the journey to unfold. And know there is a way through every block.

Now your turn, I’d love to hear from you. In the comments below let us know…

Have you ever left your comfort zone to follow your dreams? What exactly did you do?

What beliefs do you think may be getting in the way of your dreams?

As always, thank you for reading, watching and contributing. I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say on this topic as it’s a really important one!

From Corporate America to Wanderlust | My Spiritual Pilgrimage

Wanderlust (n) A strong, irresistible desire to travel unexplored lands and the inner soul.

Today, as I write this blog, I am about to leave my comfortable home and life in sunny Marina Del Rey | Venice Beach, California. Some ask me, “Why are you leaving this? You have a wonderful life here in Los Angeles” And I do. I live in a lovely home with water views, I teach yoga, have a reiki / chakra balance studio in Santa Monica, a slew of friends. Life is great! Yet I can’t shake this urge to spread my wings and fly, seek, experience and explore.

As early as I can remember, I had powerful desire to travel. My favorite books as a child were those about colorful, brave characters who nomadically roamed through exotic lands.

At six years, old I took my first out of the country trip for an entire summer to visit my mother’s side of the family in Athens, Greece. Immediately, I eased my way into this new culture. I enjoyed speaking the different language, eating new foods and soaking up the vibrant colors and smells of this exotic land.

Maybe it was that trip. Maybe it was having a mother who was from another country. I’m not sure, but I wanted more of this. I was not able travel out of the country again until I turned 19. And from that point on, I have been fortunate enough to travel every year.

As I observed the lifestyles of other cultures, I became disconnected with the American lifestyle and the American Dream. Work, work, work. Make money. Consume, consume, consume. More work. Retire. The cultures I enjoyed the most were the ones that focused much less on this and more on family, nature, and the simple pleasures of life. American Dream… It was a dream that was spoon fed to me, but something I just couldn’t swallow. I even tried to embrace this “normal” lifestyle. I got married, bought a home, had the big paying corporate gig with the fancy titles, I had a 15th floor, corner office at CBS Radio overlooking the vibrant streets of midtown Manhattan in New York City. Yet I found that none of this fulfilled me. I was filling my pocket-book, but depleting my soul. I was stressed out, unhealthy and exhausted.

As I circle back to my query, why? Why do I have this burning desire to roam and explore? I realize, that the open road makes me feel alive, free and vibrant. I gave the American Dream more than a good try. I worked for two decades in Corporate America. Today, I have reinvented myself and found a way to support my dream, my life and my pocketbook living out my destiny.

I’m heading off on a one-way ticket to Thailand and the beautiful countries of South East Asia. I have no time line. Maybe a year, maybe more, maybe less. I will be teaching yoga, meditation and holistic living both abroad and on-line. I’m on my spiritual journey

I’d love to share my experiences with you and perhaps even see you on the other side of the world at one of my holistic retreats. So if you haven’t already, sign up for the newsletter. I’ll also continue to record and post my favorite meditations and holistic tips designed to help align you in the highest vibration so you can live out your happiest, authentic life.

Shine Your Light,

Jewels

Over the past several years, I have gone through some amazing, transformational shifts that have led me on a beautiful journey. I have learned how to let go of stress and open up to the divine vibration. This change has allowed me to live the life of my dreams. And meditation has been one of the strongest tools to help me get there.

I recorded this meditation on the tropical island of Koh Phangan, Thailand after trekking deep into the palm tree jungle to a secret waterfall. Thailand is the land where my dreams awakened into reality.  I first traveled to Thailand for a yoga and meditation retreat in 2008-2009. There I experienced a spiritual transformation. After that trip, I knew my life as it was before, was never to be again. It was then that meditation became a daily practice for me and I burst wide into my spiritual awakening.

Kiran Kriya is my #1 favorite and meditation. It was one of the first meditations taught by the Kundalini yoga master, Yogi Bhajan back in 1969. He said if all other meditation technologies were lost, this one mediation would be enough to carry us through the Aquarian Age. Which is the age and time we are living in now.

There are so many benefits to this meditation. It works on clearing the psyche and is an incredibly powerful spiritual cleanser. It has the power to break patterns and addictions, lifts brain fog, increases memory and reorients the mind allowing the possibility of transformational change.  Whatever you need at the moment, it will readjust and align you, bring balance into your mind and thus your life.

Just last year, during one of my “life storms”, I practiced this meditation for 40 days straight. The results were miraculous. Everything that was going wrong spun on it’s heels. All that needed to be released, gently melted away. I emerged with clarity, vibrance and joy.

How to do it:

This is the 11 minute version. It can also be done for shorter or longer times. During particularly stressful times, it should be done for at least 11 minutes every day.

You chant the mantra

Sa, Ta, Na, Ma while simultaneously  incorporating the below mudras (hand positions)

  • SA, press the thumb and the index finger together
  • TA, and press the thumb and the middle finger together
  • NA, and press the thumb and the ring finger together
  • MA, press the thumb and the pinky finger together

As you do this, visualize the energy coming into the crown chakra from the top of the head and out through the third eye. In an L shape

Do the above series, with the mantra and mudra  first for

2 minutes OUT LOUD, then

2 minutes in an audible WHISPER, then

3 minutes chant SILENTLY while continuing with the hands, and mouth moving, then

2 minutes WHISPER and

2 minutes OUT LOUD

Release the mudra. Inhale deeply, suspend breathe 30 seconds

Exhale eyes remain closed, breath normally for 30 seconds

Inhale, stretch arms up over-head and shake

Release

I invite you to try it. Whether you practice it once, occasionally or for 40 days, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know your experience with it.

Welcome to the Autumn (Harvest) Equinox, marking the first day of fall.

If you have high dreams and goals and are looking for a way to reach them, then read on, because I’m going to share with you my favorite ritual to manifest your destiny. Did you know that at pivotal times of year, you can harness the rhythm and energy of nature to grow, make changes and manifest your reality more easily. Well you can. And today, the autumn equinox, is one of those days because the energetic qualities of equinoxes initiate action! Back in the days of our grandparents and ancestors, the autumn equinox marked a time of reward and rest. It symbolized both a time to celebrate the nourishing foods harvested from the crops planted earlier in the year and to pack up the produce that would feed them throughout the cold, dark months

In today’s modern world, not all of us plant crops but we all to produce our own harvest. Every thought you make and every action you take represents the seeds you sow, and the seeds you sow bring about the harvest you shall reap. Want the best out of your harvest? Than align your thoughts and actions and tend to your garden. Today is the perfect day to start. This ritual is one of the fastest ways I have experienced to manifest. It can be performed any time, but on high activation days, like today or the new or full moon, its power is magnified and often times, you will experience rapid change.

Powerful Intentions

I first came about this ritual while on at a yoga retreat in Thailand. It was New Year’s Eve, 2008. In a thatched roof pavilion, by the calm waters, our master of ceremonies explained the ritual. With both excitement and suspicion, I followed his tutelage. My intentions were to be released of my corporate job, to have the time and means to travel, to let go of my materialistic mindset and to grow in my spirituality. At the time, I was an advertising executive in the fast paced media world of NYC. I had become stressed and burned out and was looking for a new way of living.

Holy Manifesting!

Upon returning home, within just four days of the ceremony, I was informed that I was being laid off… and here’s the kicker — they were giving me a severance package. Holy Manifesting! So I packed my bags and took off to India to further my yoga training and find my spirit.

Since then, I often come back to this ritual. I have shared it with close friends and today I’m happy to share it with you.

Here’s What You Need

  • Sage or Palo Santo
  • Pen
  • Paper to write on
  • Candle
  • Bowl filled with earth (dirt)
  • Relaxing music

7 Steps

1. Prepare your environment. Cleanse the room first by lighting a sage or Palo Santo smudge stick. If you do not have either on hand, you can cleanse the room by setting your intentions of purifying the room, releasing any toxic or negative energy. If you do have sage or Palo Santo, light it and wave it like a wand throughout the room and set your intentions as described above.

2. Light your candle in a safe, comfortable spot in the room.

3. Think about the goals and intentions that you want to achieve. Perhaps you want to gain control of your health and wellbeing, find your ideal romantic partner, get a new fabulous job, travel to an exotic destiny. Dig deep in your soul’s desires.

4. Now, write it out in a present, grateful statement. For example: “I love and am grateful for my fabulous, new job.”

5. Once you have your list, sit by your candle, bring the paper in between your hands and form prayer hands at your heart. Meditate on the list for 10 minutes. It’s beneficial to gaze into the candle flame first to purify your thoughts. Then close your eyes and meditate on your goals.

When meditating, visualize your goals as already manifested — see, feel, experience yourself as already actualizing what you desire to bring forth. Oddly, your mind does not differentiate thought from reality. The synapses fire the same way. So your mind thinks it’s already happening. In time, the universe will catch up to your vision and that’s when the magic happens.

6. Now fold the paper and bring it to the fire. Allow it to catch and carefully bring it to your earth bowl and let it safely burn. Burning is one of the quickest ways to manifest your goals.

7. Release your desires to the divine universe and repeat this affirmation, “And so it is.”
